EIFS Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) are installed using a full moisture drainage system, foam insulation boards, and acrylic finishes. EIFS has many advantages over other types of cladding. These include an added insulation factor. Drainage EIFS provides an R factor of 4 per one inch of foam. EIFS is also available in virtually any color. The finish coat used has integral color so the color goes through the entire coat. This results in a finish that experiences less fading or other signs of wear. In addition, EIFS does not require painting and can be washed easily. The finish coat used is flexible and durable. This results in a very low crack rate with a properly installed system. The foam boards used for EIFS are able to be molded into various shapes introducing a vast selection of design options. EIFS is virtually maintenance free (caulking around windows and doors should be checked periodically as with any cladding). Installing EIFS on your project also saves time. This system does not require time to "set" like traditional hard coat stucco. This saves about a week of installation time.
